WEEE Statement

Background

The European Unions Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive

has now been completed in the United Kingdom.  There are several obligations imposed on Network Cables Direct as a producer of electrical and electronic equipment.  Network Cables Direct compliance approach for each of these obligations is provided below.

Product Design

Network Cables Direct products are designed to ensure that all of our equipment can be dismantled and the components and materials are recoverable.

WEEE Marking

All Network Cables Direct products that are subject to the WEEE directive shipped from 13th August 2005 are compliant with the WEEE marking requirement.  Such products are marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin WEEE symbol in accordance with European Standard EN50419.

Information for Customers

According to the requirement of the WEEE legislation the following user information is provided to customers for all branded Network Cables Direct products subject to the WEEE directive.

"The symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that this product must not

be disposed of with your other household waste.  Instead, it is your responsibility

to dispose of your waste equipment by handing it over to a designated collection

point for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.  The separate

collection and recycling of your waste equipment at the time of disposal will help

conserve natural resources and ensure that it is recycled in a manner that

protects human health and the environment.  For more information about where

you can drop off your waste for recycling, please contact your local authority, or

where you purchased your product."

Registrations and Reporting

Network Cables Direct will fulfil all legal requirements and have registered with the relevant authorities. Network Cables Direct will ensure that all information required by our compliance scheme will be provided in a timely manner.

WEEE from Private Households

If any of Network Cables Direct branded products are held by private households then any WEEE can be recycled via your local collection facilities.  Details of these should be obtained from your local authority.

WEEE from users other than Private Households

Network Cables Direct will ensure the proper recycling of waste arising from any brand of IT equipment purchased before 13th  August 2005 arising at Network Cables Direct customers (other than private households) from the purchase of Network Cables Direct branded product on a like-for-like basis. For Network Cables Direct products sold after 13th  August 2005, Network Cables Direct will ensure the proper recycling of waste resulting from those products arising at the customers location within the United Kingdom. The costs of recycling described above are included in the product price as standard.  The costs of collecting such waste from customers premises are not included in Network Cables Direct standard offer.  However, Network Cables Direct can provide a chargeable collection service or addresses where customers can return their products.  All returns must be issued with a Returns Number (RMA) before customers arrange for delivery of WEEE product.

Treatment

In accordance with UK legislation, Network Cables Direct confirm that treatments and recycling of WEEE done on behalf of Network Cables Direct, either by a collective scheme or individually, will be carried out in accordance with the requirement of the WEEE Directive, including requirements in respect of special treatment for specific parts and overall recovery rates.

Information

Network Cables Direct will provide information on re-use and treatment of each new type of WEEE placed on the market within one year.
